If you are overweight there is a good chance that your weight is causing the sleep apnea. It is time to speak with your doctor about sleep apnea and weight loss.

People who are overweight and suffer from sleep apnea will need to work on losing weight. Since energy is needed for weight loss, CPAP machines are often used as the first line of defense for those who have sleep apnea. After using the CPAP therapy, people will often feel much more rested and are no longer extremely tired during the day. Once you have reached this level it is really important to begin thinking about sleep apnea and weight loss. If one is able to start dealing with the weight issues there is a good chance that the sleep apnea will not be much of an issue anymore.

Start by doing things one step at a time. As your sleep becomes more solid and you are finally getting a good night’s rest, consider starting an exercise plan. Even going for a walk a few times a week can be a great kick start to losing weight. It is always advised to speak with your medical care provider prior to starting any weight loss or exercise programs.
